Remove password protected sharing windows 7

We upgraded both our office computers to windows 10 last week and have had no issues so far, today however I am unable to open the shared folders as it is asking me for network credentials, which as far as i'm aware I have never set up and have certainly never been asked for before, this computer seems to have also changed networks and workgroups all of which I am unable to do anything about. I am well and truly stuck as I cannot open my accounts programme if I'm not on the same network as the other main computer.

In reply to NikkiL54's post on October 6, I found that entering the MS account and password checkbox remember gave me access. I'm assuming you signed in at log on with a MS account. In reply to XioFen's post on October 6, Thanks for the reply. How would I even find out what our network credentials are??? Have you tried that combination? Chris Beatrice. This basically worked for me, though since I do not require a password on my network I only had to enter my name the user name employed on the computer that is trying to access the other networked computer.

Even though I use a pw to log onto this computer, entering that did not work. I had to leave the pw field blank. Makes some kind of sense I guess This does not work!!! In reply to PhilipWilson2k's post on July 26, However, the "Turn on password protected sharing" radio button located in the Advanced sharing settings of the Control Panel is enabled should be disabled.

I have restarted the computer as well, and got the same results. Stack Overflow for Teams — Collaborate and share knowledge with a private group. Create a free Team What is Teams? Collectives on Stack Overflow. Learn more. Asked 3 years ago.
