But it has the benefit of combining the sum power of both channels, so Channel A has a power rating of watts in bridge mode. This is especially useful when using the CS to power a single input audio input that is running at high volumes. The active LED function indicates when the input signal is close to full capability and close to clipping. Clipping occurs when the signal drives the power amp so hard that it struggles to maintain a consistent output.
For example, when the input source volume and power amplifier volume are both set to full. In such cases, the output may become distorted and the LED flashes as a warning. The CS has a compressor to prevent signal loads that are too high passing through the amplifier. Engaging the Enable function allows you to run the amp at full power, which poses the risk of clipping. They also sell replacement transistors. I've had one of these working in a skating rink since mid 80's and have held up nicely.
After 30 years had to do some transistor replacements. Was much simpler than I thought. Basically pull the transistor board and check transistor measurements and compare to the other known good channel. You will find one shorted or several open. The owner of the rink decided to retire this amp and purchase a new Crown Class D amp. I snagged this own up for my own personal use What a score. I think it's a transistor but there is some lot of different transistor in this amplifier.
